Race Cliches

The following is a list of races I’ve come up with, mostly offering my own twist on the classic Tolkienesque archetypes. The qualities described in parenthesis are merely the general clichés and stereotypes associated with each race in Triune, for the most part these should be accurate but each race has its black sheep and qualities can vary. Some races possess special powers, and the race cliché should be used for all rolls in that area. Some races also have inherent weaknesses and penalties, so corresponding Hooks must be taken when selecting a race.

Standard Races
  • Human (medium size, normal movement, being versatile, learning quickly, being tenacious)
  • Elf (medium size, normal movement, being dexterous, being intelligent, being attractive, quick reflexes, having keen hearing, being charming, martial arts training, magical aptitude )
  • Dwarf (medium size, slow movement, not being slowed by armor, being tough and hardy, being crafty, having an iron stomach, having studded knuckles, low center of gravity, taking down larger opponents, machine aptitude)
  • Halfling (small size, fast movement, quick reflexes, fast hands, good aim, being lucky, being sneaky, dodging larger opponents, resisting illusion, slippery minds)
  • Goblin (medium size, normal movement, being graceful, being strong, being attractive, archery, quick reflexes, keen senses, being athletic, being acrobatic, good night vision, wilderness survival)
  • Kobold (small size, normal movement, being nimble, being clever, fitting in tight spaces, being sneaky, dodging larger opponents , blinding people with spit)
  • Tigra (medium size, fast movement, being nimble, being strong, quick reflexes, keen ears and nose, having excellent balance, being acrobatic, having sharp claws) [weretiger transformation]
  • Warg (medium size, faster movement, being strong, being fast, being tough, quick reflexes, sharp senses, tracking by scent, fighting with teeth and claws, pouncing, howling, wilderness survival, good night vision)
Powerful Races [requires double pump]
  • Orc [medium size, normal movement, being strong, being tough and hardy, fortitude, wielding oversized weapons, brawling, being intimidating, darkvision]
  • Troll [large size, normal movement, being strong, being tough, being wise, having excellent health, healing quickly, wrestling, having natural armor, fortitude]
  • Dragonborne [medium size, normal movement, being deceptively strong, being tough, being charismatic, willpower, being hard to kill, wielding oversized weapons, natural panzer pilot, having magic wings, dragonoid transformation]
  • Eladryne [medium size, normal movement, being intelligent, being wise, being charismatic, being otherworldly, talking with spirits, sensing magic, entering spirit world, natural shaman]
  • Seraphim [medium size, normal movement, being strong, being very intelligent, being charismatic, being beautiful, minor healing ability, natural priests, religion knowledge, having magic wings]
  • Warforged [Large size, slow movement, being a living machine; being strong; being rather sturdy; not aging, breathing, or suffering from most poisons or diseases, operating in inhospitable environments; being stoic, being logical; having very low creativity, feeling no pain, having natural armor, having iron fists]
  • Dryad [medium size, slow movement, being tough, being wise, talking to plants, commanding plants, not eating, healing in sunlight, having armored skin, producing whip-like vines, producing status changing spores, treent transformation]
Race modification
  • Half-breed (having a mix of racial qualities from both parents)
  • Vampiric (Being supernaturally strong, fast, and tough; having acute senses; physically attacking people and sucking their blood; sensing magic; recovering quickly from wounds) [Being undead; not aging, breathing, or suffering from most poisons or diseases; soaking most forms of damage; hypnotizing people; spider-crawling up walls; jumping really far and high, creating new Dampir]
  • Mechanshi (slowed movement, having mechanical limbs; being tough, having natural armor, having iron fists)
